Historical Fun Facts

Here is a brief list of accomplishments that were by a few of these various Continental Congress Presidents

Peyton Randolph- Known for being President of Congress he was nominated by Thomas Lynch of South Carolina. He played a key role in organizing the resistance to British rule in the colonies.

John Hancock- longest serving President of Congress known for his bold signature on the Declaration of Independence and also organizing the Constitutional Convention

John Hanson- He is often credited with being the first president of the United States under the Articles of Confederation.

Richard Henry Lee- He is often credited for helping draft the Articles of Confederation.

Thomas Mifflin- He is often credited for helping negotiating the Treaty of Paris and assist forming a new United States government under the Articles of Confederation

Elias Boudinot- helped mange the finances of the early United States Govement.

Henry Laurens- He is often credited with establishing alliances with the kingdom of France during the Revolutionary War
