Paintings through Certain Events

The painting simply named the Declaration of Independence depicts the founders signing the document. It's an important event because it shows the Colonist were getting tired of British rule. On the right side it shows Thomas Jefferson presiding around everyone in the room. People around the room are looking at him as he stands besides the Declaration of Independence. It was a turning point not only for the people who signed the Declaration of Independence, but for the colonists who did not have any representation in the government. 

This artwork depicts part of the Continental Army just marching towards Philadelphia. What makes it remarkable is they didn't know someone was drawing them. The sketch was not comissioned like the other paintings in the exhibit. The sketch depicts them as ordinary men and not putting them up a pedestal. The artist Du Simitière also depicts the inclusion of women which was uncommon for them to follow the army during that time. The sketch was just a chance encounter and Du Simitière decided to document it.
