"Onward, Christian Soldiers!"
There were many flags flown by the Americans throughout the course of the revolution, each with different meanings behind it. One of the flags has been dubbed "Gostelow Standard No. 10." In this flag, there are many details that point to the connection of religion and revolution. One of the main things that stands out are the words across the bottom: "Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God." This connects the will of God to the will of those fighting for their independence.
