Aftermath of the Campaign

After the American Revolution, Florida remained under Spanish control for quite sometime. As Spain had allied with America, they came out of the war victorious. Therefore Florida remained under their control. However this does not mean that the war left Spanish Florida unscathed. Due to the war, there was instability within Florida afterwards. This ultimately resulted in rebellions and would eventually lead to a revolt in 1812. One of these rebellions occurred in 1795 and resulted in multiple people being charged and convicted as criminals. The document above is a Spanish document that shows the convicts who were charged and what their sentencing was. Ultimately Spain would continue to lose control on their colony in Florida and the United States gradually over the next few years.
